Get To Know Your Lake Charles Lactation Consultant — Courtney

5 meaningful things you should know about me!
You get 20 years of experience when choosing me for your breastfeeding journey.
I’m currently working on a non-profit because I believe every mother deserves breastfeeding support. It hurts my heart when an insurance company dictates access to this level of care.
I’m a beaming mother of 4 (breastfed them all) and lucky to be married to my best friend.
At my house, we have 2 dogs, 4 cats, and 4 goats. We milk goats and make cheese from my darling goats too!
Life’s busy, as you know, but when I get to slow down…you’ll find me at the beach reading a book.
A Passionate IBCLC, Mom, Wife, & Animal Lover
I was born and raised right here in Southwest Louisiana. As a kid, I was obsessed with looking after our farm animals. (I guess some things never change! since I still do!) I would bring any injured or stranded baby animal inside to bottle feed them.
Looking back, I see how nurturing animals at a young age made me appreciate the entire birthing and milking process. I milk goats and tenderly love our farm animals and have loved all animals my entire life. Even as a child (without knowing it), I was laying down the foundation of my career as a lactation consultant.
Before I became an IBCLC, I met my husband, Will. I thank God every day for bringing me such a good man, husband, and father. He’s stood by my side with every choice I make with nothing but support and love (even when I take sick animals on family vacations!). We treasure trying out new foods together, and I’m grateful he takes over most of the cooking because that is not my favorite thing.
We’re proud parents to 4 kids, and each brought their own breastfeeding challenges. I breastfed while pregnant with my second baby. (Yes, it’s possible — because our bodies are incredible!) Breastfeeding my own kids intensified my passion to help others achieve their breastfeeding goals. I want your breastfeeding journey to be as blessed as mine was four times.
I love the outdoors and swear — fresh air heals your soul. You might see me around town, riding in my Jeep with the top down. My family and I love going to the beach, and I could sit on my porch watching my goats and kids play all day.
The picture on the right was taken 24 years ago, I was breastfeeding my second Payton. (Remember the kind of photos you had to actually get developed?) Looking at this picture reminds me of how I felt as a young mom…
Scared but full of love.
Tired but so alive.
Lonely but never alone.
I get the different levels of what you’re going through. My breastfeeding journey was so special, I knew I’d focus the rest of my life on helping other mothers do the same. I became a La Leche League Leader in 2003 to empower moms and expand my knowledge surrounding lactation to better serve my community.
Breastfeeding’s so much more than a good latch!
We look at how the breastfeeding dyad functions… meaning YOU and baby. Breastfeeding can be hard but I focus on your well-being just as much as I focus on your baby’s ability to feed. It’s important for you to feel confident, secure, and prepared to feed your baby — I completely understand.
After becoming an IBCLC, I’ve continued to educate myself in all areas of lactation. My husband often jokes that at some point I need to be “done with school.” But to me, everything I learn helps support your family more.

Choose guidance from me at my clinic in Moss Bluff or if you rather I come to your home, I do that too! Lake Charles families and surrounding areas can come to me for expert lactation support. It’s all about what works well for you.
Helping you breastfeed successfully lights me up, and I’ll keep educating myself to better serve your family. I don’t know many people who go to bed every night thinking they have the best job in the world — but I know I’m blessed to.
When I leave a home visit and a family’s hopeful — instead of hopeless…my cup is full. I can’t wait to benefit your family on this special journey.
My biggest advice to new parents in the trenches? Don’t lose hope. Once you get over the struggles — breastfeeding becomes a joyous experience!
