Meet Virgina IBCLC
My journey to becoming an IBCLC began long before I even knew this path was meant for me.
My first child, I only breastfed for 2 weeks, then exclusively pumped for 6 months, and had to supplement with formula due to low supply. I had no idea what I was doing and never recieved care from a lactation consultant. My second was exclusively breastfed for 15 to 18 months and my 3rd had a tongue tie that caused me LOTS of pain with feeding. My personal experience was a driving point for me to become lactation consultant so other families could have support from the beginning.
I became certified in July of 2023. We moved to Northwest Arkansas in August of 2023 to start an amazing career as a lactation consultant with Arkansas Lactation. This opportunity helped me grow into a much stronger, more knowledgeable and more understanding consultant. I have a wide variety of experience with different families and my goal is to help each family meet their breastfeeding goals. We moved back to Louisiana at the end of 2024 to be closer to family and was given the opportunity to work with Courtney (I shadowed her for clinicals to become an IBCLC). I am excited to work with her again and grow the lactation care in South Central - South West Louisiana.
